Drivers need to pay more attention to the road, and less attention on their business calls and make up. & They also should STOP AT CROSSWALKS. & when they do,, actually pay attention to see if anyone is crossing. & if someone is crossing,, back your car up so they can cross without having a Chevy Truck 3 cm's in front of them.

Drivers need to start looking at both sides of the crosswalk to make sure no one is trying to cross, if there's no one there, THEN they have the green light to drive on through. Also, for pedestrians to look both ways and really make sure these cars have stopped and if it's a 6 lane street, enter each lane with caution - I see people do this and it works. I recently lost my cousin, Kaitlyn Murray who was killed in a crosswalk. I'm told she had made eye contact with the driver but still he hit her, why? I'll never know. All I can do now is help raise awareness to support the safety in our crosswalks and hope that when people get in their cars and start moving to really really be aware of their surroundings.

I think Its the People Who are on Cell Phones,putting makeup and looking doing other careless useless things that make our streets dangerous.I mean if we all took time to drive carefully stop at crosswalks in would be safe you'd think..right?Isnt that what people leanred when they got there license stop at all crosswalks and stop for predestrains? Then why is it so hard for people not to. because of this lives are being taken away.
IM all for the overheard crosswalks.
mabey there should be another system like when someone pushes the bottom to the crosswalks both traffic lights should be red so there will   be No cars near the crosswalk.I would feel safer to cross an empty   sreet with cars far away from me?
we;ll see what comes of all of this now

i agreee,
an overhead walkway is needed there.
they need to so something with that crosswalk.

heyy well i just wanna say that i know how it is to loose someone and i want you to know that God is watching over MaryBeth's family and friends and he is also going to make everything alright even when you feel like nothings going to help eeze the pain. Well i know that God had a great plan for Marybeth and hje does for you to so he wants you to fufill your destiny beucase thats what Marybeth would want and shes always with you even when you feel alone...

have pations, look both ways before crossing i know how it feel to loss someone you love i lost my second cousin,he was only 4 and cause of a person not stoping i will never have the chance of meeting him or see a pictures of him untill its my time to go up. i miss him and i will never forgive the person that would now take a min to stop and let a little kid cross the crosswalk:(R.I.P 2nd cousin love you and miss you ♥♥♥

i DEFFINETELY think an overhead walkway sounds good for portland street. nothing like the marybeth tragedy should happen ever again because of drivers not paying attention to the road. it may be expensive, but it's necessary! keep up the fight for justice.

This dangerous crosswalk where MBC was killed needs attention ASAP.   An overhead walkway is needed badly there.   This is obvious!
